maxxdick really wanted me to post this for some reason. Just a quick and scrappy scribble in his commission (hinthint) sketchbook because - hey, he’d just left it there unattended. The only notable thing about it is that this is one of the very few times I’ve touched lead to paper ever since he got me that CCH…and I promptly spent the first few seconds squinting confusedly at it and manually raising the pad for that 45 degree incline.

LINEART JUN DOE | COLOUR MAXX DICK
Reblogging this over, a quickie that Maxx slapped football-watching flicker on. This was the first international tournament that a team we actually wanted to win did win, which is a strange and new feeling. Really glad some of these veteran German players will have winners medals to top off their careers…I remember all their first World Cups… Q_Q And while I know opinions will differ, also pleased that Miro (THAT IS HOW LONG AGO) now holds that record.

Every now and then I just have to doodle a nude lady…usually when I just can’t draw to save my life. Just super busy and super down these days.

Oop, reblogging this over from the other side: these were a couple of quickies from a couple of months back where I talked about sweet, shy, precious, twirling, trilling, hip-swiveling real-life Disney princess[es]. :|

”- ROLL! ROLL THROUGH THE GATES OF HELL!”

Wildstar continues to endear itself to me with references that shows just how old we all are.

Aaand here are our fourth set of toons - I’m the sad blue one at bottom left. Maxx has a love-hate relationship with the Explorer path…in that he hates it but he loves the path rewards. He did finally settle on it for characterisation in this particular case, and found himself rewarded right in Deradune with THE TREASURE OF RAZORTAIL ISLAND.

MAXX IS GIVING AWAY FREE ART

Last time reblogging this here - ‘COS IT ENDS TOMORROW! I cannot stress how good an offer this is or how good your odds are (‘cos half the notes are me reblogging it daily on my reblog Tumblr. Q_Q). DO THIS, DO THIS, IF YOU DON’T DO THIS, THEN…then, well, I guess you don’t do this, that’s all, BUT YOU REALLY SHOULD.

jundoe:

MAXX IS DOING THIS THING - YOU SHOULD DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS THING HE IS DOING. IT ENDS ON SUNDAY, SO, YANNOW.

maxxdick:

I’ve hit 100+ followers for whatever baffling reason (OK, so half I know, and the other half is from my quality Transformers comix haha) - thank you so much for your sustained interest and support! Since this tumblr is mostly my art, it’s time for a free raffle!

Up for grabs is ONE DIGITALLY-COLOURED HALF-BODY, exactly in the style of my commissions, worth $27+! This free raffle ends 30th June 2014, 11.59pm EST and will be rolled via Random.org. The winner may choose any simple original or fandom subject - human(oid), robot, anthro, etc.
If the character’s complexity is non-negotiable (eg. fandom), it may be changed to a bust instead - whatever is equivalent in worth.

Our regular Wildstar dinner-theatre continues, with altoholism meaning we’re at level 21, 19, and 15, with another on the way. I swear we got further in beta… RL situations are not abating, so we’ll probably continue in this vein.
As much as we’re avidly enjoying housing Wildstar, playing an MMO regularly again inevitably fills us with wistful memories of City of Heroes/Villains. Our altoholism in CoH was…off the charts, let’s just say, but for a good many years, Espn and Axn remained our respective ostensible mains. Which is the long way round saying here’s a quick pic of Espn from a couple of months back ‘cos I ain’t managed to finish anything new.

So E3 gave us the Grim Fandango remaster, first on PS4/Vita, then probably PC/mobile in the future. How much do I love Grim Fandango? I love it so much that my ask page, for as long as I’ve had a Tumblr, has been titled “Ask me about Grim Fandango - uh, anything.” and now my long game has finally paid off and it’s become relevant again. I love it so much that, for the ‘Describe your favourite game and make it sounds as shitty as possible' meme, my version was “You spend four years being dead.” Grim Fandango was the first game I’d ever bought with my own money (Monkey Island III was the second). Grim Fandango is the game that changed my life, like how Les Miserables was the book that changed my life - except now I can still look Grim Fandango in the eye…er, socket and love it. That’s how much I love Grim Fandango.
I love half the cast too, but I love Eva most. When I was younger, I was always dismayed that we never got a conclusive ending for her - then, when Tim Schafer released the original design document for the 10th Anniversary, I was dismayed to learn that she *spoiler* and we never got to see it. So here’s a quick one to Evaluna. She still loves you. ;)

WC2014: Spain 1-5 Holland

I’ve been waiting twelve (!!) years for Holland to win a major tournament, and this certainly seems like a great chance so far… I still don’t think it’s going to happen though - those twelve years have taught me if they don’t bottle it in the quarters, they’ll bottle it in the semis, etc. etc., but what a thought that is.

Obviously, there’s a lot to abhor about this World Cup, but it’s hard for us not to be captivated by the game itself, anyway. It’s the World Cup. Twelve years ago, that’s how we fell in love, and how it saved our lives. And this one is like a high school reunion for us, except we’ve never been to that high school - so many of these footballers we’ve watched the careers of begin…so many who’ll never make it to another.

(Actually, what I really want is for the Czech Republic to win a major tournament, but that ship sank a long time ago…)

Now that’s Hollish football.

Maxx; guess what we’re watching.

I’m technically maining Nicorose, but I’m still waffling over how to compromise between her canon hairstyle and the in-game version (forever sore that the pixie cut is Exile-only), so it’s Aarinn again. This was supposed to be a quickie, and it pretty much was until something went terribly wrong and it became a struggle - but WHAT THE HELL, geared as he was right off the ship.

Actual screencap taken moments before, illustrating the human condition and souvenir shops. (What? Just me?)

One-week-in screenies from Wildstar. It’s boring to main humans, but this is what happens when you import your toons from City of Heroes. In our defense, these are also our only humans… Well, maining is one way to put it - we’ve been busy as all get-out rushing RL things, and only playing during dinner, so we’ve got them to housing 15, and that’s about it for now. Hence Hycrest and Thayd, and pretty much the only light armour so far that looks like normal-people clothes on both my chars.

Top row: (Nicorose, Dominion, Spellslinger-Scientist) obligatory duo shot; we killed Stemdragon but the achievement was broken
Bottom row: (Aarinn, Exile, Esper-Settler) he’ll buy anything he says, really; oh man, getting to that Secret Stash…; I must go, my people need me

So Wildstar entered Head Start today. We were prepared for chaos, but it was surprisingly pleasant on our end, and we grabbed all the characters we’d intended to roll across Evindra and Caretaker.

These are my mains, on Evindra (RP-PVE):

I have interesting OCs, I swear, but they’re all stuck on Caretaker, and that’s been full all night…

These two pics of my useless Human Esper are extremely ancient, dating back to when I first got my CCH last December. Basically straight-out experiments (plainclothes on the right was titled ‘saitest’…); action-shot was actually drawn in LayerPaintHD, before I experimented with colouring (and probably never will again) in Sai. It was also waaaay before we lucked into Beta and the discovery that likenesses can only ever go so far for the human options…

There’ll always be a City of Heroes/Villains-shaped hole in my heart, but for a sci-fi MMO with fun action combat and an extensive housing system…we really ain’t having such a bad time on Nexus.

I’m sure no one in the world has ever thought, “I’d love to see Stuart Immonen draw movie Enjolras,” but here we are. And I swear there’s a reason for it.

I distinctly remember the day I saw the ACME link on maisonimmonen, thinking in my post-work, sleep-deprived haze, “Oh whoah Stuart Immonen sketches,” and clicking to wistfully chuckle at not being eligible, being in Singapore and all. I recall seeing ‘Hero Initiative' and thinking, “great cause” and then reading 'international shipping', smiling blankly - and then backtracking to take it all in. I'm not the type to even dare think I would be fortunate enough to win anything, much less such a massive lottery, so I neatly put it out of mind as I returned to the daily grind, greatly anticipating the resulting rare treasures that the lucky owners would hopefully share - reason being, Mr. Immonen, inelegantly speaking, is my art idol. I was just happy to have been eligible in the first place.

Fast-forward to some time later on a work day, I perfunctorily refreshed my email after washing my hands…and promptly fumbled all the towels onto the floor.

So you can imagine how I felt when maxxdick unveiled this before me with a dramatic and very smug flourish. After the requisite speechlessness, the first thing I said was, “…I thought you said you’d probably ask for Lady Loki.” Then, “You made Stuart Immonen draw WHAT?!!" And then I grovelled on my knees.

On my part, I well remember him turning to me upon discovering the raffle link to ask, anxiously and plaintively, “Should we enter?” My response was something along the lines of, “…Does a bear - …Is the Pope - WELL, YES?!!?” Of course, he never did tell me he was rolled, until…

I’ve struggled with the words over and over, but at the last I just have to admit there is nothing I could possibly write to convey how much this means to me. A SKETCH. FROM MR. IMMONEN. OF ENJOLRAS. You couldn’t make it up. If a fire breaks out in here, that’s the first thing I’m grabbing. Maxx…Maxx, fine - you got me.

If anyone is as interested as I am in the rare treasures that are Mr. Immonen’s sketches, here are the other four (hunted down before I’d known we’d be the fifth):
Phoenix . Captain America . Excalibur Kitty Pryde . Fin Fang Foom

The moral of the story is: BUY FROM maisonimmonen . SUPPORT HERO INITIATIVE. GO TO ACME. THE IMPOSSIBLE CAN HAPPEN.
